ZP meeting rocked by shoe and Water tanker scam

Zilla Panchayat members on Tuesday alleged that there was a lot corruption in the schemes implemented by the Zilla Panchayat.

Member Shankar Madalgi alleged that a few Education Department officials had raised bills of Rs. 270 per pair of shoes that were actually worth only Rs. 70.

He further alleged that water tanker sent to the drought affected villages was billed the government at ₹ 45,000. In some cases it was almost double and as much as 70,000 to 80,000 was paid for a tanker of water.

CEO R. Ramachandran that he will order an inquiry by a committee of officers did not satisfy the members.

  1. Nothing special. Those not ruling complain and then do the same when in power.
