Can Prasad Ghadi be Belagavi’s Unicorn?

Prasad Ghadi passed out of Bharatesh College of Computer Applications in the same year that I joined, 12 years ago. Even back then, he was known as a person who could accomplish things, be it getting sponsorships for events, organizing something, or helping people in need, the soft-spoken GS of the college and was awarded the best student eventually. In the beginning, he worked as a Medical Representative but soon realized that he wanted to start his own business. And so began Prasad Homeo Pharmacy in 2012 with just 2 rooms, one employee, and a heart full of dreams.

In the early days, he slogged it out, packing stuff himself, carrying boxes on his shoulders, developing a strong network of doctors and customers and building his team.

This is one person who dreams with his eyes open. His tastefully designed office in Ramling Khind Galli portrays several icons who have made it big with sheer hard work and dedication – from Ratan Tata, Sachin Tendulkar, Sharukh Khan, Elon Musk and Dr. Kalam, there’s everyone to inspire and motivate with their words. He chooses the best in everything he does, from the architect to the software, from team members to consultants and so it reflects in all the outcomes. The transformation reflects even in his personal life. When he realized he had put on huge weight, he even toiled in the gym for months to get a toned body.

When you speak with him, you realise he’s a man in a hurry. Brimming with ideas, he will do whatever it takes to manifest them. He started a retail shop back then, but soon turned to wholesale. Today, he is the distributor of dozens of established brands in Homeopathic medicines and wellness products. His warehouse is so meticulously organized that the staff finds it easy to fulfil orders within minutes. Almost 35 people work for him today, and he acknowledges the role his young team has played in his success.

Prasad Homeo Pharmacy also fulfills hundreds of online orders from several sites like Meesho, 1Mg, etc. every day. To cater to the online buyers, he recently launched his own website www.healthyghar.com from where one can order these products and get them delivered within 2 hours in Belagavi and within 24 hours in Karnataka. A big team is continuously engaged in handling these business verticals. Prasad plans to expand his retail outlets in the city and then in the entire state and country. Plans are also afoot to start his own manufacturing unit in the days to come. Today his turnover is in crores of rupees and looking at his trajectory, I am sure he can touch the Rs. 100 crore mark in the next decade or even before.

Both Prasad and his talented wife Pratibha handle the daily operations. They are also inclined towards giving back to society from such a young age. They have already donated to PM Cares fund, organized free immunization camps, sent a cheque to Olympian Mirabai Chanu when she won a medal, contributed towards the creation of the Golden throne of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, sponsored meals on Raksha Bandhan at the ITBP center and this year provided food for 4000 people during the Shivjayanti procession.

What is noteworthy is that he is a man who is determined to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. I have seen him constantly motivating his staff and ensuring they work in a positive environment. He shares ideas with the team, takes them along in all his endeavours, celebrates with them and eggs them to take more initiatives. “I want my team to handle all the current responsibilities so that I can be free to pursue bigger dreams”, he says.
