The 3rd edition of the Khanapur Half Marathon took place on Sunday, October 29, 2023, on the picturesque Khanapur-Jamboti Road. This year, the event attracted 800 runners from all corners of India.
Participants of all ages, ranging from 7 to 71 years old, took part in various categories, including the Half Marathon (21.097 km), 10 km, 5 km, and 3 km Run. Winners were awarded cash prizes totaling Rs. 2.5 lakh.
All registered runners received beautifully designed medals, a post-race breakfast, high-quality event T-shirts, E-Timing certificates, event photographs, hydration support, and medical assistance during the race, among other perks.

Notable guests included Sadanand Patil, the Managing Director of Laila Sugar Khanapur, Sh. Amit Kumar Sharma, IRS Additional Commissioner of CGST, Sh. Umesh Ramgurwadi, Past President of Rotary Club of Venugram & Rotary Club of Venugram Team, Dr. Radhakrishna Harwadekar from Shivraj Dental Clinic, and Sh. Naganna Hosmani.
The Elite Running Academy Khanapur proudly sponsored the event, with Sh. Vithalrao Halgekar, MLA of Khanapur Taluka, and the Rotary Club of Venugram-Belgaum serving as associate sponsors.
Anant Gaonkar, representing the Elite Running Academy Khanapur, secured the first position in the men’s race, while Rohini Patil emerged victorious in the women’s category, triumphing over Kenyan International Athletes. Vivek More and Akanksha Ganebailkar claimed the top spots in the 10km open category for men and women, respectively.
The race was organized by the Khanapur Athletics Development Association, with an organizing committee consisting of Arun Hosmani, a businessman and sports enthusiast from Khanapur, serving as the event chairman. Sh. Kapil Gurav, the director of sports at Maratha Mandal Degree College Khanapur, held the position of managing director. Sh. Jagadish Shinde, the founder and director of Elite Running Academy Khanapur, served as the race director. Other members of the committee included Guruprasad Desai as the joint managing director, Suraj Birase as the manager, and Akash Gurav and Prathamesh Gurav as the logistics incharge.
The event sponsors in various categories included Sh. Naganna Hosmani Convention Hall, Shivraj Dental Clinic, PM Transport Belagavi, Dr. Mahesh Kadam & Family, Om Sai Clinic, Laxmi Communication Khanapur, Raja Tiles, Om Sai Clinic, and Rajah Tiles Khanapur.
The event was conducted successfully, and runners from all over India expressed their appreciation for the excellent management of the race.
