The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has announced its plan to construct a cricket stadium in Belgaum say The Hindu. KSCA treasurer Tallam Venkatesh, one of the chief guests at a function organised by the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) to felicitate sports achievers for 2011–12 here on Wednesday, said they had plans to build a new stadium; this would be in addition to the one being constructed by the State government. He said that work on the cricket stadium in Hubli was nearly finished and it would be inaugurated by the Chief Minister in November.
In 2008-09 the KSCA had commenced work at Auto Nagar to build an international standard but the work is going at a snails pace and nothing much has changed, except for the ground being leveled.
We also found this link on the internet http://www.thedesignfirm.in/public_kscabelgum.html The page shows images of the KSCA Belgaum Stadium.
However we are not in a position to tell whether these images are of the new stadium or the one at Auto Nagar. We did try to mail KSCA but all the mails bounced back.
If the story is said to be true it would be boon for the sports persons from Belgaum.
