Magis Cup: A Thrilling U-14 Football and Basketball Tournament

The inaugural Magis Cup, a Football and Basketball tournament exclusively for U-14 players from Jesuit schools in Goa, Karnataka, and Maharashtra will be held at St. Paul’s High School, Camp, Belagavi. This event aims to foster the spirit of sportsmanship, teamwork, and competition, providing a platform for young athletes to showcase their skills and passion for these sports.

The Jesuit educational network in India is extensive, with more than 350 primary, and secondary schools, Colleges, Universities, and Technical Education across the country.

What is Magis?

“Magis” is a Latin term that means “more” or “greater.” It is often associated with the Jesuits and their educational philosophy. The Jesuits, also known as the Society of Jesus, are well-known for their commitment to education and sports. The concept of “Magis” encourages a commitment to excellence, service to others, and a deep sense of purpose in one’s actions.

The Tournament:

The inaugural Magis Cup, a dual-sport tournament only for Jesuit schools, featuring football and basketball for players under 14 years of age, promises to be an exciting showcase of young talents that are committed to giving off the more or greater. Organized by St. Paul’s High School, Belagavi, this event aims to promote youth sports and healthy competition while fostering a sense of community and teamwork among the Jesuit Schools from Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra.

Football and Basketball : Two Sports, One Tournament

Date : 10th and 11th of November 2023

Venue : St. Paul’s High School, Camp, Belagavi

Age Group : Under 14 years

Inaugural : 10th Oct 2023 Time: 9:00 A.M

Valedictory : 11th Oct 2023 Time: 10:00 A.M

Competition Format:

The tournament will feature a group stage followed by knockout rounds in both football and basketball.

Participating Teams:

Teams from Jesuits schools from Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra will be competing for the Magis Cup. A total of 12 teams have registered to participate in the event.
