Turmuri is small village near Belagavi, known to a few as it holds the Garbage depot for Belagavi city, but now this village is all proud for this Farmer’s daughter who despite the odds, national martial arts fighter Malaprabha Jadhav is raring to go and aiming for the Gold at the 18th Asian Games to be held in Jakarta from August 29 to 31.
Malaprabha has been selected to represent India in Kurash (a form of martial arts) at the Asian Games, and this daughter of a farmer who is somehow managing his family is now facing a financial crunch, but she is all geared up along with coach Jitendra Singh who is leaving no stone unturned so that this girl can win laurels for her nation.
Malaprabha bagged Ekalavya award from the government and also Karnataka Olympic Association Award. She has bagged silver medal in the Indo Asian Games held at Kyrgyzstan and pocketed bronze in the Asian Championships held in Pune. She has secured 4 prizes in National level games which include two gold medals, one silver medal, and one bronze medal.
