Niranjan Navalgund shines in Greece

press pic3Niranjan Navalgund of Belgaum though missed his maiden International Norm by 1/2 point but succeeded in getting the Medals in his age group and gained 56 ELO points to his International FIDE Rating at the

International Tournaments held at Greece. About more than 200 players from 28 countries around the world participated in these tournaments.

Niranjan Navalgund was on Greece tour on the special invitation of Kandonos, Palehora and Muncipality of Rethymno , Chania Chess Club, & Rethymno Chess Club, Greece from 6 th July, 2012 to 2nd August, 2012 through SAI under Talent Search & Training Programme.

He participated totally in 3 Classical swiss tournament & 2 Blitz Team events. In the first event i.e. International Open Chess Tournament -2012 held at Rethymno , bagged Bronze medal by scoring 5/9 points In his second tournament, 5th Open Chess Tournament of Paleochora, organized by the Municipality of Kandanos, Selino, Greece from 16thto 23rd July 2012 , bagged Silver Medal in the U-18 age Category . In the Team event he represented Rockstar team & Extras and bagged 2nd and 1st place respectively in Rhytmno & Palechora.

He also participated in the Kavala Open Chess Championship held at Kavala, Greece from 25 th July to 2nd August, 2012 and gained 58 ELO points.

Niranjan Navalgund is trained by International Chess Trainer Mr.K.Visveswaran of Chennai.
