The 83rd edition of the Ranji Trophy Cricket will begin on October 6 and will have the earliest final in the history of the tournament, with the match scheduled between January 7 and 11, 2017.
For the first time Ranji trophy matches will be played at the KSCA Auto Nagar Stadium Belagavi.
November 13 -16, 2016 – UPCA Vs Mumbai
December 7 – 10, 2016 – Tamil Nadu Vs Gujrat
This will be the first such tournament to be held in Belagavi.

First Ranji Match was played at Union Gymkhana in 1970:
The Karnataka-Andhra match from November 15-18 2000 is only the second Ranji Trophy match played on this ground, the first being held between the same teams 30 years back on 13,14 November 1970. Karnataka (then Mysore) won by an innings & 10 runs.
A Ranji Trophy match ‘Karnataka vs Andhra was played in Belagavi in Nov 2000 at Union Gymkhana I did go to watch it then. So, this is after 16 years.
