Well known Physically Challenged swimmer of Belagavi Ms Simran Vivek Gaundalkar ( 15 years ) has been selected in Indian squad to participate at World Dwarf Games – 2017 to be held at Ontario, Canada from 4th-12th August 2017.
Totally 16 members from different states of India have been selected in the Team who are participating in different disciplines like Swimming, Badminton, Table Tanis etc. based on their National performance.
Ms Simran is participating in 25M, 50M Free Style, 50M Back Stroke and 50M Butter Fly events.
Ms Simran joined swimming in the year 2009 and so far won 8 Gold and 1 Silver medals from the National Swimming Competitions. She was also awarded with Best Athlete in female category at the recently concluded National Swimming Championship for Disabled.
Simran a member of Swimmers Club Belgaum and Aquarius Swim Club Belgaum, studying in 10th standard in Divine Providence High School. She does her swimming practice both the session at Suvarna JNMC Olympic Size Swimming Pool and Rotary Corporation Sports Academys Swimming pool under the able guidance swim coaches Mr Umesh Kalghatgi, Mr Sudhir Kusane, Mr Prasad Tendolkar, Mr Govardhan Kakatkar and Mr Sai Jadhav.
Ms Simran and her father Mr Vivek are flying to Canada from Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai via Brussels tonight.
