The semi-finals of the Royceton Gomes Memorial Football Tournament on Sunday drew record crowds who braved the rains to witness a hard fought game between Phoenix and Islamiya Schools. Islamiya capitalized on gaps in Phoenix’s defence to take a big lead in the first half with three goals scored by Mohid Shaikh (13th minute) who converted a penalty shot into a goal, Abuzaar Bhisti (19th minute) and Arif Shahpuri (30th minute)
Much as the Phoenix boys fought back in the second half, they could manage only on goal, scored by Rahul Gondalli (37th minute).

In the second match the heroic efforts of the M V Niketan lads failed to stop the formidable St. Paul’s machine which powered its way to a huge win ably led by their captain Aryan Shalori with 2 memorable goals, scored by Roxon Swamy (35th minute) and Mark Wagh (45th minute).

The Finals will be played between St. Pauls and Islamiya School on 7th August 2012 (Tuesday) at 4:00 pm.
