Welham Boys win All India IPSC Football Tournament 2013

Welham Boys, Dehradun, emerged victorious in the Finals of All India IPSC Inter-School Football Tournament 2013 (Under 17) held at Honaga, Belgaum on 20th August 2013. The event was organized by Phoenix Public School, Honaga Belgaum.

Welham Boys overcame the challenge of Rashtriya Military School, Bangalore by margin of 3 – 0 goals. Welham Boys had the control throughout the game. Parth Babbar opened the account for Welham Boys in the 10th minute of the match Welham Boys continued the lead till the first half of the match, they continued to control the game in the second half also. Vishal Singh made it 2 – 0 for the Welham Boys at the 16th minute of the second half by scoring a spectacular goal. Rashtriya Military School, Bangalore tried to come back in the game, but the backline of the Welham Boys proved to be too good to the forwards of the Rashtriya Military School, Bangalore Boys and in the dying moment of the game, Fahad Siddique made it 3-0 for the Welham Boys. In the end, Welham Boys triumphed in the Finals, in the one sided contest.

Devendra Pratap of Mayo College, Ajmer was declared as the Best Goal Keeper of the tournament and the Highest Goal Scorer was Jai Minocha of Modern Public School Delhi. Fahad Siddique of Welham Boys, Dehradun was awarded “The Best Player” of the Tournament.

At the Prize Distribution the Chief Guest Lt. Col. Mr. Prakash Narahari, Phoenix School Chairman Mr. Vivek Patil, Dean Cum Administrator Mr J.C.Tapan, Principal Mrs Alka Patil distributed the Trophy’s, medals and certificates to the players, coaches and managers. The dignitaries present on the Dais congratulated the winners, the runners-up and the participants.
