Y G Vijendra of Mysore emerges victorious in 2nd Chaitra Nadgouda memorial Chess tournament

chess 1 BELGAUM: Y G Vijendra of Mysore emerged winner in the 2nd Chaitra Nadgouda memorial ‘Belgaum Open’ All India Chess tournament held at Varerkar Natya Gruha Tilakwadi Belgaum. The event was organized by Abhay Nadgouda in association with Belgaum District Chess Association. Ravindra Nikam of Ichalkaranji finished Runnerup and Vishal Rao of Belgaum secured third place in the event. Total of 250 Chess players from Karnataka, Maharshtra and Goa had participated in the event.

Vijendra secured 9.5 points of possible 10 points, Ravindra secured 9 points and Vishal secured 8.5 points. Dasari Rao took the fourth place with 8 points, Ajay Dhamnekar fifth, Aditya Kalyani sixth, Sangram Patil seventh, Anish Gandhi eight, Omkar Kedar ninth, Praveen Walvekar tenth, Girish Bachikar eleventh, Raju Sonecha twelfth, Gurukumarswamy Guddigimath thirteenth, Nandakumar Bachalkar fourteenth, Bharta Patole fifteenth, Suhas Nidoni sixteenth, Shaswat Mudengudi seventeenth, Nilesh Bhandari eighteenth, Prajwalesh Harti nineteenth and Manoj Kulkarni secured twentieth place.

In under-9 category in Boys Aditya Sawalkar stood first, Adasha Malipatil second and Prajwal Joshi third. In Girls Samruddhi Kulkarni took the first place and Spandana Raikar took second place.

In Under – 12 category Boys Shriraj Bhosale took first place with 7 points, Darshan Magdum second with 7.5 points and Anup Ganjal third with 7.5 points. In Girls Gayatri Rajput stood first with 6 points, Mayuri Sawalkar second and Keerti Bandalmurty took the third place.

In Under – 14 category Boys Abid Ali Mujawar took the first place with 7 points, Shriniwas R Hireraddi second, Sagar Patil third. In Girls Prithvi Deshpande took the first place with 6 points, Priya M P second, Daksha Argavi secured third place.

In Under – 16 category Boys Sumedh Parwatikar took the first place, Prasad Patil second and Shubham Malani from Sangli took third place. In Girls Pooja Patil took first place and Paridhi Chauhan secured second place.

In individual awards the Berst Woman Chess player award was won by Kushi Hombal, Best Veteran Player was bagged by Ramchandra Bhat, Best Belgaum Player was won by Shreyash Kulkarni and the Best unrated player award went to Amod Nadgouda.
