Despite the advancement of technology and the convenience it promises, residents of Belagavi are facing a frustrating ordeal as the online property tax payment website, https://belagavicitycorp.org/, continues to malfunction for the entire first half of April.
The website glitch has left taxpayers stranded in a maze of bureaucracy, with the Belagavi City Corporation offering nothing but repeated delays since the beginning of the month. With each passing day, residents hoping for a swift and hassle-free tax payment process find themselves disappointed by the perpetual “Tareekh pe Tarrekh” (dates after dates) scenario.
For many, the online platform represents a convenient alternative to the traditional method of physically visiting tax offices and enduring long queues, only to encounter bureaucratic hurdles. Frustrations have escalated as taxpayers feel they are being inconvenienced and their promptness in fulfilling their civic duties is being overlooked.
“The taxpayer in this country is never treated the way he should be,” lamented Praveen Kulkarni a resident. “Promptly, the taxpayer wants to pay the tax, but the Sarkari System is such that it won’t allow you to.”
Adding insult to injury, those who resorted to offline payment methods have been hit with a shocking 125% increase in property tax compared to the previous year. This hefty surge is attributed to the calculation of taxes based on the Ready Reckoner rates and a 3% incremental hike this year.
The failure of the online payment system coupled with exorbitant tax hikes has ignited widespread discontent among Belagavi residents. Many are left questioning the government’s commitment to serving its taxpayers efficiently and fairly.
As frustrations continue to mount, residents eagerly await a resolution to the technical issues plaguing the online payment portal, hoping for a swift and transparent process that respects their contributions to the civic upkeep of their city.

Today by 11.15 morning I had been to carporation office in Konvalkar galli for paying my property tax .I found long queue of people, most of them elderly persons standing in the queue since 10.0 am .& we know the temperature conditions in the city Buerocrates should think over this problem seriously & Online payment of tax should be restored as early as possible & take the blessings of the people.
Solve this problem ASAP. Also extend 5% discount benefit by May End.
First try to make Belgaum Digital City then go for Smart City.

We talk Karnataka the IT hub and knowledge base state , however we Belgavi residents are deprived of basic infrastructure and facilities for property tax . I do understand BMC is offering active site for water tax payers, however property tax system is not working. BUDA is still in bad shape and even today Ramathirth Nagar is not part of BMC I e no accountability of neither BUDA nor BMC. This is clear indication of poor political and administrative will of political leadership and administrative staff
Because of this Ramathirth Nagar is suffering and lagging in Basic Services of waste management and cleanliness , drainage system even though money is spent as a part of smart city and is poor management of government and local authorities like BUDA , BMC , ZP , Collectorate office and political representatives and suddenly ward committee formation and activities are at subzero level
