Bittoo: The Smart City Project Limited has proposed to start Public Bicycle Sharing Program in Belagavi with the objective of ‘making the city more livable for its residents and desirable for the visitors, reducing the use of private motorized vehicles and make streets of city more walk-able, environment friendly thereby providing last mile connectivity to public transport users’ Bapu.
Bapu: That’s true and the SCPL is now eliciting public opinion about the proposed initiative Bittoo.
Bittoo: That’s wonderful Bapu as it will not only reduce air pollution but also help riders to foster public health Bapu.
Bapu: Hummmmm!
Bittoo: But, in the absence of separate bicycle tracks and growing vehicle traffic leading to frequent congestions, will it add to the present chaotic situation or ease Bapu?
Bapu: I don’t know Bittoo.
This is a citizen-centric new column, wherein the author(Bitto) is an ordinary, politically unaffiliated common man of the city who in his/her inimitable approach takes up various issues with the Bapu’s soul! Sharing cycle is a good idea but it is yet one more way of eating or gulping money by corrupt corporation official and contractors. I stead please repair roads by honest contractors and officials else cycle will fall in one of the pot hole and will be scrapped to hide the cycle scam..
