The establishment of KLE University’s School of Music was conceived with the clear vision of creating additional facility for the staff and students in the campus for the most beautiful ‘gift of god’ i.e. Music which is independent of the barriers of language and transcends borders. Classical Music is a cradle which would be rocked continuously by legendary personalities one by one. Late Dr. Gangubai Hangal’s dream came true when the School of Music at KLE University was commenced just within two years, after her visit to Belgaum in 2006.
The School of Music was inaugurated on 12th April 2008 by renowned Indian Classical Music Vocalist of National and International repute, Padmavibhushan Dr. Gangubhai Hangal, in the presence of Mr. Rupiah Banda, His Excellency, Vice-President of Republic of Zambia.
The School of Music offers the following courses:
1. Certificate Course in Hindustani Music (Vocal)
2. Certificate Course in Sugam Sangeet
3. Diploma in Hindustani Music (Vocal)
The school of music has experience and dedicated highly qualified staff viz., Dr Mrs Sneha Rajurikar who is Head of the Department of school of music and other teaching faculty’s are Mrs Sunita.K.PatiL(Music teacher), Mrs Durga Kamat- Nadkarni (music lecturer), tabala Accompanist Shri Jeetendra Sabannavar ,Harmonium accompanist Shri Yadavendra Pujari.
The School of Music has also a unique museum displaying role, very old values recordings of famous legendary music artists from all over India and has collections of rare musical instruments as well. The School of Music provides facilities such as sound proof class-rooms, Music Library, Music books library, instruments like Tabala, Harmonium, Tanpura and Photo gallery of music legends and has fully equipped recording room. The School conducts many Seminars in association with famous and noted artists / associations.
Admissions at the school of music for the certificate and diploma music courses has started. Last date for application is 30th July 2013.
