Zomato spreads its wings to Belagavi

Zomato was founded by Deepinder Goyal and Pankaj Chaddah in 2008, Zomato is a restaurant search and discovery platform providing information for over 1.4 million restaurants across 24 countries and serves more than 50 million users every month.

As Zomato is all set to launch its services in Belagavi, our representative Mandar Kolhapure had an exclusive interaction with the launch manager of Zomato, Mr. Pratik Singh.

Though Zomato doesn’t need any introduction, please tell us how will it work in Belagavi?
Zomato will work in Belagavi the same way it works in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore or any other city. Your favorite food from your favorite outlet will be delivered at your doorstep.

Will there be any delivery charges?
There will be no delivery charge.

What about discounts?
Yes. We have a surprise launch discount offer and we also run discount schemes occasionally. People will have to apply the promo code to avail the discounts.

What are the other advantages to order through Zomato?
People can track the delivery person live, once he leaves the restaurant to their address. Then they can rate the restaurant and review the food which was never done before in Belagavi. Once their food is delivered they can even review the delivery person.

What will be the mode of payment?
Customers have the option of Cash on Delivery, Debit or Credit card payment and we also accept digital payment wallets like Paytm and others.

What if a wrong order is delivered?
Zomato has an online chat support who will instantly reply to your queries. They will interact with the restaurant, analyze what went wrong and solve your complaint. We have a very interactive and creative chat support.

From which hotels can we order?
People can see the list of hotels once they open the app and select their location as Belagavi. We have listed many hotels and also in a process to list more. People can also use filters like the type of cuisine, offers discounts and veg or non-veg. The list can be sorted based on relevance, rating, time and cost wise.

What areas of Belagavi will you deliver?
We will deliver within entire city limits.

Will you use plastic carry bags for packing?
Zomato doesn’t pack the food. It is packed by the restaurant and we deliver the packed food. However, we appeal to the restaurants to use eco-friendly products for packing.

Coming to the restaurant owners. How will it benefit them?
Zomato provides an equal platform for all restaurants, be it small or big. The business grows multifold as they get orders from every corner of the city. This also promotes the restaurant on a very large scale. People will review their food which will motivate them and also help them to work on areas of improvement.

Are there any fees for the restaurants to get listed?
No. Initially one can list their restaurant for free on our app and website.

Any other charges for restaurant owners?
Yes. They pay a percentage commission on order basis.

Coming to employment. Tell us how will it help Belagavi?
We have already started recruiting Belagavi candidates for Zomato. The salary paid is at par in the industry. Apart from this, we are also recruiting delivery partners who earn from Rs 10,000 to 15,000 per month. The mode of payment is weekly. They also get additional joining bonus and referral bonus. They are given free health and life insurance from the company with certain terms and conditions set by the company.
