The bandh call given by various organisations against the sudden transfer of SP Sandeep Patil has evoked good response.

Shops in main market area are half open and majority are compeletely shut.
People have gathered at Shivaji Garden and the rally would start in some time.

People from all castes, languages took active part in the rally and only the tri color was seen. Slogans shouted were also only Jai Hind.
This kind of unity shown by the people is great and for the first time. The traffic is quite normal. But commercial establishments are shut.
Sources say that the transfer has been kept pending for two more days and SP who was supposed to assume charge today at Mandya has been told to wait till further orders. It looks very likely that the transfer order would get cancelled.

In total 33 different organisations from the city gave their memorandums to the DC which in itself shows how the people from various religions, languages and have come together.

The whole episode reminds me of the movies KEMPEGOWDA & SINGAM…. 😉
Really heartening to see people supporting a good police officer..
This whole thing should really motivate our police forces and other officers to serve the people without any fear of political pressure…

Mr. Sandip Patil, thank you for your great service. Look the whole of Belgaum has stood with you.

This clearly shows that people love the persons who are honest and right. I don't think such kind of response will be seen if any politician is removed. So, the politicians should understand – the only way to remain in the hearts of people is by doing good work.

Great. Now the so called leaders know who is their real boss. Do not mess around with us anymore. We have had enough. Anna effect has come into Belgaum. We need to find out who are those so called leaders behind this transfer and then vote against them in the next election. This will teach all such traitors a lesson. Stop messing with us. The power of the common man will never be under estimated in future. This is a great occasion for Belgaum. People across all sections uniting for common good. Let this be a start and not a one off thing.

Good response? How about the college boys/thugs scaring shop keepers into closing their shops?

I have yet to see a “good” bandh.

I wouldn’t consider disorder and confusion to be positive.
