The fourth-largest city, Belagavi, is the second-largest exporter of the state with a total GDP of INR 159.65 billion. The district devotes 48% of its land for cultivation of which pulses and cereals are the most important crops. Belagavi is also known for its fruits and vegetable cultivation, including staples like onion, tomato and potato. The district is home to India’s first notified Aerospace Precision Engineering and Manufacturing SEZ centre. Belagavi is the emerging hub for storage/cold storage infrastructure augmenting the agriculture sector and allied industries here.

Land
Belagavi has different agro-climatic conditions and soil types that enable its agriculture and allied sector. The district employs a major part of its cultivable land i.e its 48% of net sown area for commercial cropping. Water
Three major rivers, Krishna, Malaprabha and Ghataprabha run through the districts aiding irrigation. Belagavi has an above-state-average cover for irrigation, with over 58% of the net area irrigated.
Power
HESCOM or Hubballi Electricity Supply Company Limited is handling the power transmission to the district of Belagavi. The average annual consumption of power in the region is 526.618 MU for industrial use and 406.376 MU for domestic use. A solar photovoltaic plant, as well as a gas-based project are in the pipelines.
Natural Resources
Belagavi is a treasure trove of mineral resources. Apart from the huge limestone reserves, it also has rich deposits of bauxite, uranium, silica sand, aluminium, laterite, dolomite, quartzite, and china clay, fuelling the aluminum industries here.
