Bridge at Gogte Circle to be inaugurated on Dec 25

The new built Road over Bridge at Gogte circle which has come up in lieu of the 110-year-old British built bridge will be inaugurated on December 25, 2018, at 11 AM which also coincides with the birth anniversary of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.  The Road over Bridge at Level Crossing 126 A is now a Four laned bridge with divider and footpath.

The 110-year-old railway over-bridge connecting Gogte Circle and Basaveshwar Circle on Khanapur Road and the work to replace it with a four-lane bridge began in the First week of October 2017 and has been completed before time (April 2019).

The new bridge will be named as Basveshwar Bridge as a resolution to that effect has been already passed in the Belagavi City Corporation.

The old British built bridge was closed for traffic on October 14, 2017. It may be noted that the said old bridge was built by the British and work commenced in 1901 and work was completed in 1905.

Value of work: Rs. 14,36,41,973/- (14 Crore)

  1. Congratulations to both the Contractor and the Authorities for a rare project that has been completed on (in this case ‘before’) time. We as citizens should take note of this feat which should encourage the authorities to make this as a norm. It prevents cost over-run and more importantly serves the purpose…of serving the people.
    Request all citizens to follow traffic rules on the new bridge.

  2. We do appreciate the project but if you see the design there is a huge turn which will cause accidents as the youngsters will get free road and night riders with full speed will have to be careful and cautious at the steep curve

  3. The neon/ugly stripes look like a village man’s shorts. Smart City with historical names and village look and feel. It was far more modern and considered a city when growing up.Good job in completing it so soon – hope the steep height does not cause accidents.
