Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa has reduced the penalty for not wearing masks to ₹250 in urban areas and ₹100 in rural areas.
Earlier the fine was 1000 in urban and 500 in Rural areas.
Shri BS Yediyurappa urged citizens to voluntarily wear masks, maintain social distance and help the government in its efforts to break the chain of spread of COVID-19.
Many people and organizations had raised objections of the high amount of penalty imposed, he after consideration the amount has been reduced.
