Ten Indonesians convicted for VISA violations

The local JMFC court sentenced Ten Indonesian nationals who flouted visa rules were to two days imprisonment and pay a fine of Rs 20,000 each.

The Belagavi district administration had identified these 10 from Indonesia in Belagavi and quarantined them, after it was found that they had attended the Tablighi Jamaat Markaz in New Delhi between March 10 and 13.

They arrived in Belagavi on March 16. They have preached at a mosque in Auto Nagar and have not moved around.

Mal Maruti Police had filed an FIR against these foreign nationals for violating the VISA norms.

All the ten had arrived in India allegedly securing tourist visas despite their purpose of the visit being religious.
