Citizens Council met City Corporation Commissioner Ibrahim Maigur and asked him to appoint full-time staff for the collection of Property tax in the month of April.
Voluntary taxpayers are a rare breed and we are of the opinion that administration should reward and motivate them with encouragement. Its April, means if you pay your property tax in advance for the year 2019 you will get a 5% rebate.
But its unfortunate to mention last year to get that rebate the honest tax payers have been made to go from door to door and return empty handed resulting in huge loss to the citizens as well as the corporation. Reasons may be many, but in our City, more than 60% of citizens who were willing to pay tax were deprived of the facility due to Election, Non upgradation of records, Staff unavailable etc.
This year the Loksabha Election are in the month of April 2019 and as per confirmed sources many of the existing corporation staff have been deputed with the election duty. In the present scenario, we would like to request you to kindly look into the matter and depute a full time office setup for the Citizens who are willing to pay the Corporation tax in advance.
We feel that as a responsible citizens, when we approach the Civic body to pay our taxes must be treated well with respect and the concern officer should finish our work in a single visit. Last year many citizens suffered as the records were not updated by the corporation making the citizens loss of their time, energy and money.
After due discussion, the Commissioner Shri Ibrahim Maigur assured the Council members that he will make elaborate arrangements for issue of Challan and collection of SAS tax at rebate from 1 st April. He also assured of non hindrances to the prompt and honest tax payers.
