Officials in the Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Department on Tuesday said that the daily number of cases, recoveries and deaths of COVID-19 cases was underreported due to the ongoing strike by doctors. This comes as the review reports were not sent to all the respective district headquarters by the government medical officers.

From Tuesday to Friday the local bulletin issued by the Health dept here has been stopped.

Belagavi did report 249 new cases and 486 discharges on Tuesday.

For instance, Bagalkote district saw zero positive cases for the day, while Udupi saw cases increase by only one. Similarly, Ballari, Dharwad, Hassan, Kodagu, Shivamogga districts registered no increase in the number of discharged patients.

The protesting doctors said as part of their protest they had planned not to share the daily Covid-19 data of patients with the government, suspend all OPD services, and only attend to emergency cases.

State Health Minister B. Sriramulu then appealed to the doctors not to take such extreme measures especially at a time when the state is trying hard to fight the pandemic.
