Fake CBI Officer Cheats Unemployed Youths, Accused Arrested

Malmaruti police, Belagavi have arrested a man accused of deceiving the public by impersonating a CBI officer. The suspect, Dayananda Ramu Jindrale, 33, is a resident of Anjaneya Nagar, originally from Islampur in Hukkeri Taluk.

The arrest followed a complaint by Afzal Beedi, a resident of Autonagar. Beedi reported that Dayananda had asked him for Rs 5 lakh, claiming he needed the money for a friend’s medical treatment following an accident. Beedi provided Dayananda with Rs 50,000 and two cheques totaling Rs 3 lakh. However, he never received a refund.

Dayananda allegedly posed as a CBI officer and conned unemployed youths by promising them jobs in the KSRTC, Forest Department, and Excise Department in exchange for money.

The investigation revealed that many people had been scammed in areas including Nippani, Raibag, Kagawad, Chikkodi, and Harugeri. The accused was found with 10 to 12 ATM cards and a Forest Department ID card. He has been arrested and produced before the court, and police are conducting further investigations.
