Belagavi has a unique place in the history of Karnataka as it was here that the Ganesh festival was first celebrated as a public event, and was kick-started by none other than the legendary freedom fighter Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak.
Since then Ganesh Festival has had its very own importance for Belagavi, but due to the pandemic this year Ganesh Idol pandals only in Temple Premises not in any other public place or road.
the State govt has issued guidelines for the celebration of the Gouri Ganesh Festival –
Temple Committees and Sarvajanik Ganesh Utsav Mandals will have to take requisite permission from Police, City Corporation, HESCOM, Health dept, etc
No use of Dolby, colors and firecrackers
Immersion of Ganesh Idols should be done within the home only or artificial pond or in the Mobile tank provided by the administration
Sanitisation is compulsory and social distance has to be maintained all the time
No processions of any sorts while Agaman and visarjan
Immersion in the nearest place available
Wearing of masks is compulsory
2 feet idol height for house and 4 ft in the temple is allowed
