In light of the emergence of new variants of the coronavirus in other countries, the Union Health Ministry has directed states to send samples of all new Covid cases for genomic sequencing. Health and Medical Education Minister Dr.K.Sudhakar has already taken measures to implement this directive.
Speaking to the media in Belagavi, Dr. Sudhakar noted that countries such as China and Japan have seen a sudden surge in cases, with China witnessing more hospitalizations.
He emphasized the importance of booster dose coverage and urged citizens to voluntarily come forward and get their shots.
The Minister also highlighted the need for precautionary measures, particularly at airports with high international passenger inflow.
He assured the public that the Centre is closely monitoring the global situation and is prepared to take all necessary precautions. New guidelines will be released soon in this regard.
