Govt mulls free land for hotel for legislators but no takers

The govt spends around Rs.4 to 5 crores each session over the accommodation of the elected members and other staff. Initially it was planned that a new legislators house would be built near the Suvarna Vidhan Soudha but that has not picked up.

Now it is learnt that the Govt is mulling to allot a 27 acre plot reserved for this to a hotelier with a condition that he would build and operate a 500 room hotel with a condition that all the rooms would be given to the state for a month when there is a session being held.

But not many are interested in this offer as it would be difficult to get occupancy for the rest 11 months.
