Gulmohar BAG art exhibition opens today

15th April marks International Art Day, and an exhibition has been organized at Kalamaharshi K.B. Kulkarni Art Gallery, Varerkar Natya Sangh, Tilakwadi by the artist fraternity of Gulmohar BAG. The group has been consistently striving to promote art in Belagavi. Starting with 2018 when the first show was held, they have come a long way indeed where they organize group shows at different places.  The artists’ collective even managed to donate Rs. 1.80 lakh towards Covid Relief fund during the lockdown generated by selling works of art.

The exhibition which is open to all people of Belagavi was inaugurated at the hands of Shri. Subhash Desai, Principal-J.N. Bhandari School of Art, Mrs. Swatee Jog – founder, Eeshanya Ventures and Shri. Mangesh Patil, an Artist from Sangli did a live demo of portrait painting to much applause.

 The five-day exhibition that starts today will go on till the 18th of April. It shows some amazing artworks by veteran artists as well as young budding artists alike in mediums like oil, pastels, acrylic, watercolor and mixed media. Many of these artworks are also available for sale.
The artists of Gulmohar BAG have come up with a unique concept called ‘Life Lines on Canvas ‘. It is an event in which a single large canvas will be painted with hand impressions of the people of Belagavi and this creation will be permanently displayed at the Airport, Sambra Belagavi.

The canvas will be displayed at KBK Art Gallery, Varerkar Natya Sangh, from  17th  to 18th  April 2022 from 11.00 am to 6.00 pm. From the VVIPs to the common people, all are welcome to print their hands on the canvas and be a part of this project.


The exhibition will also have art demos in the morning and evening where experts will demonstrate different art forms, styles, and mediums in which art can be explored.


One can see the works of 37 artists including Chandrashekhar Ranganekar, Mahesh Honule, Priya Khatav, Vrushali Marathe, Himangi Prabhu, Jyoti Sharad, Shourika Gargatti, Sachin Upadhye among others as also sculptures by retired Income Tax Commissioner Mr. Belagali.
