The city of Belgaum is known for its cool temperature and also for its laid back attitude of the government in executing projects identified years ago.

Today TOI has published that the Indoor stadium which was planned to be built at the open space near Dharmanath Circle will now be built at Vaccine Depot on a 7 acre plot with a cost of Rs.16.5 crores.

The stadium will have indoor games, including basketball, volleyball, shuttle badminton and table tennis courts with some other facilities. It is also learnt that the Laser tek park which was planned has also been shifted to Vaccine Depot which was also a part of the indoor stadium which was planned in August 2010. EOI’s were called for in August 2010 as per the records we could found, but nothing has changed after that and only the venue keeps on changing, which eventually means all the planning has to be redone according to the new site.

In a months time the tender for the same would be floated, sources said. The Vaccine depot site was visited by the sports minister on his last visit to the city and then it was decided that the stadium would be built here.

At this moment we are not clear as to the exact location of this stadium inside the vaccine depot.
The vaccine depot which is waiting for its overhaul with a heritage park plan for over two years now, not even and inch has moved with respect to the Heritage park. However the work on the Grameen Jeevan park as a part of the heritage park is under way. A glass house worth Rs.25 crore was also planned a couple of years back but nothing has happened even after foundation stones being laid twice.

I hope better sense prevails and people take cognizance of the fact that Belgaum is slowly heating up. We need trees to stay cool else the city will go dry, arid and polluted very soon.

As if one white elephant was not enough, they are adding some more. SVS is used may be once a year cost Rs500cr +. Bigger roads trees being cut for more vehicles to make more pollution.
More agricultural land for plots, food prices rising.
They do not have the money to solve water problem or especially the political will. Illiterate representatives do not know how to formulate the law for the benefit of everyone. A simple amendment to municipal rules will be of benefit to people and environment.
Then where is the peaceful affordable life of belgaum ? Let everyone eat money and money only.
And those people who want cricket ground remember the money that flows into BCCI and corruption in there.

    THINK!!!

PLEASE PUT AN END TO THIS NONSENSE!!!

WE DO NOT WANT ANY MORE “DEVELOPMENT” OF THE VACCINE DEPOT. IT IS ABSOLUTELY AWESOME THE WAY IT IS.

THE PLACE WILL BE RUINED IN THE NAME OF BUILDING AN INDOOR STADIUM. THERE ARE NUMEROUS OTHER PLACES AROUND TOWN TO BUILD THE INDOOR STADIUM. BUILD IT THERE!!!

When too many people take charge on a task, it might end up ruining the whole thing. I fear this will not happen in case of Vaccine depot ‘SASSYA KASHI”.
