There are chances that the Budget session of the Karnataka legislature may be held in Suvarna Vidhan Soudha Belgaum as the Assembly Hall in Vidhan Soudha Bangalore is being taken up for renovation.
The Public Works Department (PWD) has taken up renovation of the Legislative Assembly hall and its lounge at a cost of Rs 16.8 crore.
Renovation includes repair of the wooden floor, replacing seat cushions, painting, installation of new sound system and some minor civil works. While electrical works are estimated to cost Rs 11.3 crore, civil works are estimated to be worth Rs 5.5 crore.
Both civil and electrical works should have been started simultaneously by December first week and ended before February 15, 2013, but with the contract for civil works entering a legal hurdles, the works is yet to start.
Due to this there are chances that the Budget session could be held at Belgaum. Experts feel that the work wont be completed by February 15, 2013.
Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar is planning to present the state budget, a vote on account to be precise for 2013-14 in mid-February.The present BJP government will complete its five-year term in office on May 30, 2013.
The winter session of the legislature was held at Suvarna Soudha Belgaum between December 5 and 13.
