The Rakskop Reservoir is facing a dire situation with only three feet of water remaining. The administration is now relying on the upcoming rains to increase water storage. In light of this, the Mayor of Belagavi Municipal Corporation, Shobha Somanache, has made a heartfelt appeal to the people of Belagavi to use water sparingly.
To assess the situation, Mayor Shobha Somanache, Deputy Mayor Reshma Patil, and officials from the city corporation, Water Supply Board, and L&T Company visited the Rakskop Reservoir.
During their visit, they inspected the water reservoir and gathered information from officials about the current water levels and storage capacity.
According to KUIDFC Superintendent, Engineer Ashok Burkule, the water supply capacity of the reservoir is 68 MLD, with 55 MLD of water being supplied to Belagavi city daily. However, due to the low water level, only 30 MLD of water is currently being supplied. The situation has been exacerbated by the lack of rain, but the monsoon is expected to start within a week, which will help to alleviate the problem.
