There have been numerous attempts to relocate offices from Bengaluru to Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi, but the situation has been fraught with challenges. Despite Belagavi’s status as the second capital, the government has been removing offices from Belagavi one by one, leaving the community frustrated and neglected.
Recently, the BJP government moved the Joint Director of Silk Department’s office from Belagavi to Haveri, the constituency of then Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai. This move has caused significant disruption, with three Taluk offices in the district being locked.
This issue was brought to the attention of new ministers Satish Jarakiholi and Lakshmi Hebbalkar during a progress review meeting in Belagavi recently. Bailahongal MLA Mahantesh Koujalgi raised the issue and called for the Silk Joint Director’s office to be shifted to Belagavi. The ministers have promised to investigate the matter further.
It is essential that the government takes the concerns of Belagavi’s residents seriously and works to address their needs. The relocation of offices should be done to benefit the community and not cause unnecessary disruption.
