Karnataka’s Minister of Medical Education and Skill Development, Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil, has directed officials at BIMS (Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences) to immediately commence OPD services at the newly constructed super-speciality hospital on the Civil Hospital premises. Addressing a meeting, Dr. Patil emphasized the urgent need to operationalize the facility, which has been delayed due to staffing shortages.

Applications for doctor appointments in the super speciality departments were invited, and several candidates have already been appointed. However, a lack of applications in some departments continues to hinder the full-fledged functioning of the hospital. The minister urged that available doctors should start OPD services without delay, and fresh applications should be called for the remaining positions.
