A criminal case has been initiated against Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar and Umesha Mallappa Rachannavara, the owner of a hall in Kuvempu Nagar at Hindalga in Belagavi, for violation of the model code of conduct.
The complaint was lodged by the flying squad chief under CrPC section 200. It alleged that on March 20, 2024, the minister conducted a meeting with anganwadi workers who receive honorarium from the state government, without obtaining permission from the Assistant Election Officer.
Special court judge Preeth J has scheduled the matter for further hearing on April 30, 2024.
