Valentine’s day of 2018 has been very loving for the citizens of Belagavi with the opening of the Post Office Passport Seva Kendra at the HPO, Station Road, Camp, Belagavi. Now the citizens of the district will not have to go to Hubballi or Bengaluru to apply for new or reissue of their old passports.
Belagavi had been allocated one POPSK in the first batch announced on February 9, 2017 but it took more than a year for the same to established here.
In Aug 2016 in reply to our RTI queries the MEA had replied No passport office for Belagavi as no Request received;
“The ministry has not received any request for opening of a Passport seva kendra or passport office in Belagavi from the State Govt.”
Then on Feb 9, 2017 under the POPSK we were included in the first list and now the POPSK has been inaugurated and the citizens will save their time and money while they apply for the passport.
Why did it take so long? Is a question now wants to answer even those who will now take credit of making it happen here. The Kolhapur POPSK was opened in 30 days from the day of its announcement, but Belagavi took over a year.
There is no point now on crying foul and trying to ascertain the reason as to why there was so much delay, after all Government’s work is God’s work.
The citizens can now apply online for the passport and take the appointment, 50 daily for new and reissue of passport only.
The POPSK was inaugurated by Member of Parliament Suresh Angadi in the presence of Secretary, MEA, Dnyaneshwar Mulay.
