During the presentation of Karnataka State Budget for 2019-20 an announcement made to bifurcate the Visvesvaraya Technological University into two, so as to establish one such Technological University in Hasan came as a big shock to all of us in North Karnataka.

Various organisations have opposed the bifurcation. It is being termed as a political decision to appease the people from the southern part of the state and continued injustice towards the north.
At a meeting here on Tuesday, Chandrashekhar Shivacharya Swami of Hukkeri Hiremath spoke against the alleged discrimination and injustice towards North Karnataka.
The seer held the legislators from the region responsible for the sad state of affairs.

protest-vtuThe #SaveVTU signature campaign launched by Belagavi South MLA Abhay Patil against the budget announcement proposing bifurcation of Belagavi-based Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) has evoked a massive response in Bengaluru too, as more than 50 MLAs have signed against the move on Tuesday.

Many MLAs from both north and south Karnataka have rallied behind Abhay Patil in keeping VTU intact in Belagavi.
