S B Bommanahalli will assume charge as Deputy Commissioner Belagavi from today as S Ziaullah has been transferred.
Farmers have alleged that Ziaullah is being transferred as he initiated measures to get pending dues of cane growers released.
Also IGP Northern Range Alok Kumar has also been transferred.
Bommanahalli (58) hails from Vijayapura district, Bommanahalli has a Master’s degree in Economics from Karnataka University. He has served in Manvi, Sindhanur, Basavakalyan, Dharwad, Haveri, Chitradurga and Bengaluru as tahsildar, assistant commissioner and additional deputy commissioner and also as DC Dharwad. He also served as the personal secretary to the water resources development minister in the BJP government. After being conferred IAS, he served as the CEO, zilla panchayat, Davanagere and as the managing director, Horticulture Mission.
