In Thursday’s cabinet meeting, it has been officially decided that the winter session of the Karnataka Legislature will take place from December 4 to December 15 in Belagavi. Initially, there were discussions about starting the session in the last week of November, with 10 days in Bengaluru and another 10 days at Suvarna Soudha in Belagavi. However, during the meeting held today at Vidhana Soudha, it was unanimously agreed that the winter session will be held exclusively in Belagavi.

The results of the five state assembly elections will be announced on December 3, and shortly after, the winter session will commence. Additionally, due to the Diwali holiday and Kanaka Jayanti in November, they do not have a full 10-day period to conduct the session. Therefore, it has been decided that the session will begin on December 4.

In 2022, the Winter session of the Karnataka Legislature was successfully held at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi from December 19 to December 29. Similarly, in 2021, the 10-day session held in Belagavi concluded on December 24. During this session, the assembly diligently worked for a total of 52 hours and 14 minutes, successfully approving 14 Bills.

Once the dates for the winter session are announced, all hotels will be promptly booked to accommodate the staff and elected representatives. If you are planning to visit Belagavi during this period, be prepared to encounter the “No vacancy” sign in all hotels, as the district administration has reserved 90% of the available rooms in the city for the legislators and other attendees of the Karnataka assembly’s winter session.

In addition to the MLAs, ministers, secretaries, and other officials will also be present for the session.
