BELGAUM: The Belgaum Cycling Club (BCC), under the banner of B’RACE, organised its first cycle ride on Sunday, Oct 27th.
This event is a part of a planned monthly ride system, called B’RACE, being created around Belgaum across various routes & different terrain allowing cyclists to experience nature and the natural beauty of Belgaum.
The inaugural ride was flagged off from Belgaum Club Gate (facing CPED Ground) at 8.00am by Mr.Patil and followed the route below:
Belgaum Club -> Club Road -> Turn Left at Chennamma Circle – >Straight to Hotel Ramdev -> Turn around at Hotel Ramdev -> Back to Chennamma Circle -> Turn Left onto College Road -> Straight to Bogar Ves Circle -> Turn Around at Bogar Ves Circle -> Back on College Road -> Turn left at Chennamma Circle onto Club Road -> Back to Belgaum Club
The route was a beginner level with uphill,plane road and downhill. Around 30 participants of various ages enjoyed the ride on their bicycles.
Mr.Bhaskar Rao(IGP Belgaum),Mr.Narendra Holkar(Joint Commissioner transport),Mr.Shashikant Sidnal,Mr.Shankar Marihal, Mr.Nitin Khot were among the cyclists who participated. The inspiration was build a community driven a group and inculcate cycling as a lifestyle choice. The ride was peaceful and enjoyed by all.
Mr.Rao spoke on the occasion:”Make cycling a part of life for good fitness and be adventurous. He also shared his experience of cycling .”
Mr.Nitin Khot also shared his views on cycling for fitness and reduce pollution.
BCC president Mr.Dipen Shah says:Belgaum Cycling Club is launched to promote cycling as a way of transport and for a healthier lifestyle, people are quickly grasping the idea that cycling is no more just a mode of transportation but one that provides for good health, gives an opportunity to explore in a unique way and creating a sense of camaraderie & friendship amongst cyclists which you seldom see in other sport.
To kick-start activities, BCC had organised a cycle maintenance workshop on Oct 20 at Infinity Studios. The free workshop was conducted by Mr. Dipen Shah & Mr. Anvith KS and attended by cyclists and enthusiasts and were given lessons on how to clean a bike, tune it to perfection and help them with the nuances of cycling right.
